What is this?

This is a blog for scientific ideas I never got around to submitting anywhere proper.

You know how it goes — you have a thought, you run some numbers, you sketch out a derivation at 11 pm, and then life happens. Instead of letting those ideas die in a notebook, they live here.

The quality bar is: interesting enough to write down, not necessarily rigorous enough to publish.

Topics include physics, mathematics, AI and machine learning, music theory, and science education — often at the intersections between them.

Peer review, for real

If you spot an error, a flawed assumption, or a better way to think about something — I want to hear it. Open an issue or discussion on GitHub and I’ll read it.

Criticism will be posted alongside the original entry. Pinky promise.

Who am I?

Sebastian Spicker. I do science-adjacent things. Sometimes I finish them.

Project demonstrations

Two source projects have static, deliberately simulated tours on this site: Otherlight presents its scientific workspace without starting the simulator or loopback service, and Showtape walks through a setlist-to-playlist flow without contacting Apple Music or creating a playlist. Neither page accesses credentials, local devices, or the projects’ operational backends.

Colophon

This site is built with Hugo and site-specific templates that began as the PaperMod theme. Everything is set in Computer Modern Unicode, the typeface of a LaTeX paper: the serif for text, its small capitals for labels, and the typewriter face for dates and code. Mathematics is rendered with KaTeX in the same design. The source is on GitHub.
